This particular restoration also involved “stepped out – stepped back in corbelling” at the top. This type of termination does not have a concrete cap with 2″ drip edge, as required by the Ontario Building Code Water is able to enter the chimney structure through the upper steps. leading to premature deterioration.The restoration in this case went straight up, with no corbelling, before the installation of the proper concrete cap.
